What is Depression?
The term “depression” has become quite common these days. It can be defined as a condition where constant sadness, loss of interest, dissatisfaction, and emotional distress prevail, which could be both persistent or occasional. Several types of depression may exist depending on the diverse causative factors, and varying symptoms.

There are major 2 types of this depressive condition, i.e.: Major and persistent. The major type involves persistent feelings of grief, loss of interest, constant weight loss, or gain, lack of concentration, or exhaustion. Whereas persistent type rhymes with dysthymia, a mild form of depression lasting for approximately 2 years. The lifetime risk of depression is higher in females as compared to males. Treatment of Depression in Ayurveda is advised for such individuals that mainly focus on mental harmony, and activating inner happiness from both outside, as well as within.
