What is Lumbar Spondylosis?
The spinal cord of the human body is divided into five regions from which the third is the lumbar spine. It includes five large vertebrae which balance most of the body’s weight and support mobility. The degeneration of lumbar vertebrae is termed as lumbar spondylosis which affects the disks, associated joints, muscles, cartilage, and bones in the lumbar region. Being difficult to manage and progressive with age, this chronic lower back pain is inflammatory and also called spine arthritis. In deeper phenomena, bone spurs (new bone formation) may occur due to degeneration at the edges of vertebrae. These bone spurs compress the spinal nerves generating pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, and numbness in the back, arms, and legs. The long persisting pain in the lumbar region for more than 3 months affects almost 10% of people in younger age, 30% of adults, and almost 80% in old age. The treatment of Lumbar Spondylosis is very essential to control and manage the intolerable pain and for this, Ayurveda is the safest solution to improve overall spinal health.
