What is Fatty Liver?
Fatty liver simply means the buildup of undue, or excessive fat in the liver. The condition is often known as hepatic steatosis. Storing fat is a primary function of the liver, but as you know, excessive of everything is detrimental.
The problem is mainly associated with diabetes and obesity, and in India, it is increasing at an alarming rate as a large population of India is either diabetic or obese. Nearly 120 million, simply saying around 16 to 32% of Indians have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
The liver is the second largest organ of the body and requires utmost care and maintenance to function properly. But excessive fat inside it not only restricts it from its normal functioning but also makes it inflamed, weak, and prone to scarring which possibly may also result in liver cirrhosis or liver failure, if not treated timely.
